Early October view of Portage Lake and channel to Lake Michigan (from corner of 2nd floor deck outside Main Kitchen). The bright reds usually appear first, followed by lots of gold and yellow.

Everyday in autumn, from the upper decks, you can watch the greens transform into a blaze of color over the countryside.

July view of Andy’s Point on Portage Lake (home to one of several Public Accesses), Lake
Michigan, and the channel that connects the two lakes. An invigorating four mile ride/walk
winds to Lake Michigan from the house (approx. 1-2 miles as the crow flies).

Portage Lake is home to a very large population of swans. You can observe them from the
house without aid of binoculars (they look like a flotilla of miniature whitesailed boats), or
with binoculars to see the graceful arch of each neck and the beautiful contour of outstretched
wings.
