Driving Directions: Manitou Island is 3 miles east off the shore of Keweenaw Point of the Upper Peninsula Michigan. Lighthouse is on the west tip tip of Manitou Island in Square Bay. |
The Manitou Island Light was built in 1862 and is still active. Large
light with a two story keeper's quarters. In danger of collapsing from
erosion and deterioration, a group of volunteers and a lighthouse preservation
society have started renovating the premises.
