The Grand Island West Channel Lights are also referred
to as the Grand Island Harbor Rear Range Lights. It was established
in 1914, and is made of cast iron in the conical shape. This light replaced
an older wood tower from 1868. The TOP 32 feet of this light once aided
vessels near the Soo Locks, but was transferred in 1977 to its current
place after its deactivation in 1969. Although the light is now inactive,
it is accessible by car.
