Tawas Point Lighthouse was established in 1876, and is still active today. The light replaced its predecessor due to the growth of the peninsula, and the light eventually being too far inland to be of use to vessels. This conical, brick structure is one of the best kept lighthouses in Michigan. The light is open on weekends to the public.
