The Charity Island Lighthousewas established in 1857, and currently is privately owned. It stands in ruins at the northwest tip of Big Charity Island. It is conical in shape and constructed out of brick and wood. Unfortunately the sad state of the light and attached keeper's quarters is largely due to time and vandals. It was abandoned in 1939 when the Gravelly Shoal Light was finished.
